Backlot Coffee!

I'm very excited to announce that in January, a few of my favorite photos from Africa will be on display at Backlot Coffee here in Evanston!  The team there has created a beautiful space and are serving up some of the best coffee around!  Thanks to John and Isaac in particular!

More info on specific dates will be coming up, but for now here's one of my favorites that will be on display.  We just happened across this gathering on the road one day in Botswana, far from any of the tourist destinations and every time I look at it my imagination runs wild with what they must have been discussing.

Grand Canyon and Monument Valley

Whenever someone who's never been to the United States before asks me where they should go, I always answer "West...it's like nothing you've ever seen before".  During a recent trip there, I was reminded of how true this is, even if you've seen it many times before.

Also, two tips if you happen to be at the Grand Canyon and want to get there before sunrise to beat the crowds and snap some photos.  1) Check the forecast, because even though it's 80+ during the day, it can be frigidly cold before the sun comes up, and 2) watch for elk in the trees near the rim.  Standing there with them in the pre-dawn shadows is so incredible, you may even forget to snap a photo...

Southern Germany - 2015

On a recent trip to Germany, my wife and I drove south out of Stuttgart towards Meersburg one early morning.   As the sun came up, the fog blanketed the Swabian Alps and reminded us just what a beautiful part of the world this is.

What is the most beautiful part of the world you've been?  I'd love to hear from you in the comments!
